MG's New Premium Showroom Strategy
MG Motor has opened a new type of showroom called MG Select in Thane, Maharashtra. This new showroom is for premium (luxury) customers and will sell affordable luxury vehicles.
Earlier, people thought MG Select would only focus on electric cars (BEVs). But now MG says they will also offer other types of power options like:
- Hybrid vehicles
- Plug-in hybrids
- Fully electric vehicles
Why this change?
Around the world, the sale of electric vehicles (EVs) is slowing down. Because of this, many car companies are now taking more time to fully switch to EVs. So, MG also decided to keep more options open with different powertrains (engine + electric motor types).
First Cars to be Sold
Two models will be sold first in MG Select showrooms:

MG Cyberster Roadster
- A sporty, fun car
- Will come to India as a CBU (imported unit)
- Meant to build brand image

MG M9 MPV
- A big family car with luxury features
- Will compete with Toyota Vellfire and Kia Carnival
MG believes these models will help them explore new market segments in India.

What Might Come Next?
MG has many other cars globally that are hybrids or plug-in hybrids, mostly SUVs. These could be launched in India too. Some possible names include:
