Toyota will launch the new Land Cruiser FJ next year, and it will be positioned below the Fortuner in the company’s SUV lineup. The SUV is built on Toyota’s IMV 0 ladder-frame platform, which is also used for the Hilux Champ in global markets.
The design, shown in patent sketches, highlights a boxy look with an upright front, wide wheel arches, slab-like roof, squared headlamps with C-shaped DRLs, and blocky tail lamps – giving it a rugged and retro-inspired style.

When it comes to engines, Toyota is likely to offer:
- 1.5-litre diesel (entry-level)
- 2.8-litre mild-hybrid diesel with 48V tech
- Possible 2.0-litre and 2.7-litre petrol engines
The SUV may also get permanent 4WD, a Torsen limited-slip differential, and terrain modes for better off-road ability.
Though there is no official word yet, reports suggest that production will start globally in mid-2026. An Indian launch is possible, considering Toyota’s strong demand for SUVs in the country.
