Tata Motors is preparing to expand its SUV lineup with three new compact models, all set to launch over the next few years. These new SUVs aim to strengthen Tata’s position in the highly competitive sub-4 metre SUV market.
1. New Tata Punch Facelift (Launch: October 2025)
This festive season, Tata will roll out the updated Punch.
- Design upgrades: New headlamps, revised bumpers, and fresh 16-inch alloy wheels inspired by the Punch.ev.
- Interiors: A bigger 10.25-inch touchscreen and a larger driver display (upgraded from the old 7-inch and 4-inch units).
- Engines: 1.2-litre petrol and petrol-CNG, with 5-speed manual and AMT.
- Big update: For the first time, the Punch CNG will get an AMT option.
2. Next-Gen Tata Nexon (Codename: Garud, Launch: 2027)
The second-generation Nexon is in the works and will be based on an improved X1 platform.
- Engines: Expected with 1.2-litre petrol and petrol-CNG options.
- Diesel status: The current 1.5-litre diesel may be discontinued due to strict BS7 emission norms.
- Features: 12.3-inch touchscreen, power driver seat, and Level 2 ADAS for more safety and convenience.

3. Tata Scarlet – All-New SUV (Launch: 2028)
Tata is also developing a new rugged SUV, internally called Scarlet.
- Design: Boxy, masculine styling inspired by Mahindra Thar and Maruti Suzuki Jimny.
- Platform: Unlike its rivals’ body-on-frame setup, Scarlet will use a monocoque design for better comfort and driving dynamics.
- EV Version: The platform will make it easier for Tata to launch a pure electric Scarlet, positioned against Kia Syros EV.
Price: Expected starting price around ₹9.5 lakh (ex-showroom).
