Maruti Suzuki is planning to launch two new SUVs in India before the end of this financial year. One of them is the e Vitara, and the other is a brand-new mid-size SUV called the e Escudo. With the e Vitara, Maruti Suzuki will finally enter the electric vehicle (EV) market, which is currently led by Tata, MG, and Mahindra.
The Maruti Suzuki e Escudo is likely to launch on September 3, 2025.
What is the Maruti Suzuki e Escudo?
- The e Escudo is an electric version of the Vitara SUV.
- It has been seen testing on Indian roads with the ‘e Escudo’ badge on its back.
- In Japan, the Vitara is known as Escudo, which is where the name comes from.
- Maruti may sell the SUV as e Escudo in export markets, and as e Vitara in India.

- Power: 171 bhp, 192 Nm torque
- 0 to 100 km/h in under 9 seconds
- Fast charging: 0 to 80% in 50 minutes
- 48.9kWh Battery
- Power: 141 bhp, 192 Nm torque
