Mahindra is getting ready to launch the electric version of the Thar SUV. This new model could arrive by 2026 and will come with many improvements compared to the regular fuel-powered Thar.
On August 15, 2025, Mahindra will showcase a new concept called Vision.T in Mumbai, during its annual Independence Day event. This is when the company usually reveals future plans and technologies.
The teaser images show a vehicle that looks very similar to the Thar.e concept, a five-door electric SUV first shown over two years ago. It has a bold, boxy design and will be built on a special platform called INGLO P1, made for off-road electric vehicles.
From the looks of it, the Vision.T might be the next big step after the Thar.e – showing what Mahindra’s future electric off-roaders might look like. But this event won’t just reveal one vehicle. Mahindra is also expected to unveil several other new concepts and a fresh platform.

This new platform will support a longer wheelbase and higher ground clearance, making it better for rough roads. While many global brands use body-on-frame construction for such EVs, Mahindra might try something different – but we’ll have to wait and see.
The event may also feature both electric and fuel-powered vehicles. A new Bolero could be shown, along with updated versions of the XUV700 and the three-door Thar, which have already been seen in testing.
Mahindra might also reveal an electric SUV based on the XUV 3XO and another model called XEV 7e, related to the earlier XUV.e8 concept. The company is also looking into hybrid options for its premium models.
