Honda Cars India is planning to expand its SUV lineup with 5 new models by 2030. The company will also launch its first electric SUV in 2026 and introduce a hybrid version of the Honda Elevate soon. One of the biggest launches will be a new 7-seater hybrid SUV, designed to compete with the Tata Safari, Mahindra XUV700, MG Hector Plus, and Hyundai Alcazar.
New PF2 Platform
Honda is building a new global platform called PF2. This platform will be used for sedans, SUVs, hybrids, and EVs. India is expected to be a key production hub for these vehicles. Future Honda SUVs and even the next-gen Honda City will be built on this platform.

7-Seater Hybrid SUV Details
- Expected launch: 2027
- Rivals: Safari, XUV700, Hector Plus, Alcazar
- Developed with help from Honda’s Japan, Thailand, and India R&D teams
- Will be made in India with high localisation to keep prices competitive
- Will use a hybrid-ready PF2 platform
- Engine options:
- 1.5L petrol engine (same as Honda Elevate)
- A stronger e:HEV hybrid system (1.5L Atkinson cycle petrol + 2 electric motors + battery pack)
- Hybrid system: self-charging, switches between petrol, hybrid, and EV modes automatically for better mileage
