Maruti Suzuki wants to bring back its 50% market share in India. To do this, the company is offering cars with Petrol, CNG, Hybrid, and Electric options. Its first electric car, the e-Vitara, is ready to launch. Along with that, Maruti is working on a new hybrid engine for its popular cars. Soon, a new mid-size SUV called the Escudo will also be launched with petrol, CNG, and hybrid versions.
Maruti Fronx Facelift
- Launching in 2026.
- Will be the first Maruti car with an in-house developed Series Hybrid engine.
- In this system, the petrol engine works only as a generator to produce electricity, which then powers the electric motor to run the car.
- Engine: 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder Z12E engine + small battery (1.5-2 kWh).
- Mileage expected: 35–40 kmpl.
- Same engine will also come in the next-gen Baleno, Swift, and a new MPV.
- Features expected: ADAS safety tech like lane assist, adaptive cruise control, automatic braking, rear cross traffic alert, plus new design and upgraded interiors.

Maruti Suzuki Escudo
- Launching on 3rd September 2025.
- Will be sold as ARENA’s flagship SUV.
- Rivals: Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, and others.
- Built on the HEARTECT platform (same as Grand Vitara and Brezza).
Engines:
- 1.5-litre strong hybrid engine (Toyota tech) with e-CVT – 116 bhp power, 141 Nm torque. Expected mileage: 28 kmpl.
- 1.5-litre petrol engine – 102 bhp, with 5-speed manual or 6-speed automatic. AWD available with automatic.
- CNG option – could be the first SUV with underbody CNG kit.
In short: the Fronx facelift will focus on best-in-class mileage with new hybrid tech, while the Escudo will be a stylish mid-size SUV with multiple fuel options and high fuel efficiency.
