The Euro-spec BYD Atto 2 has been spotted testing in India, just after its UK price reveal. Although mostly covered, the car’s tail lights and side design confirm its identity. In the UK, it costs GBP 30,850 (about Rs. 32.5 lakh).
If the same version comes to India, the Atto 2 will be 4.3 metres long and use a 45kWh BYD Blade battery. It offers a driving range of up to 463km in the city and 312km on mixed roads. The EV is powered by a 130kW motor (176hp) with 290Nm torque, goes 0–100 km/h in 7.9 seconds, and has a top speed of 160km/h.
Features include a stylish design with connected LED tail lights, panoramic sunroof, NFC key, wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, folding mirrors, roof rails, and rain-sensing wipers.

Price & Competition in India
If launched, the Atto 2 is expected to cost around Rs. 35 lakh in India. That puts it in the same price bracket as bigger EVs like the Tata Harrier EV and Mahindra XEV 9e.
- Mahindra XEV 9e: Gets a bigger 79kWh battery with 210kW motor, 656km claimed range (462km real-world). Strong brand value helps with resale.
- Tata Harrier EV: Offers a QWD setup with 175kW motor, 622km claimed range. Still waiting for real-world tests.
While BYD is well-known for its battery technology, its success in India will depend on pricing and positioning. To compete, BYD may need to launch the Atto 2 at an aggressive price.
