The Mahindra Thar has been a huge success in India since its 2020 launch, becoming one of the most popular lifestyle SUVs. Mahindra has kept the momentum going by introducing the more affordable 2WD version and recently the five-door Thar Roxx, both of which received a strong response.
Now, Mahindra is preparing to refresh the 3-door Thar with a facelift. Nearly five years after the second-gen model’s debut, the updated Thar is expected to launch in India within the next few weeks.
What’s New in the Mahindra Thar Facelift?
Spy shots confirm that the 3-door Thar facelift will borrow design elements from the Thar Roxx. Key updates include:
- New front bumper with a stronger, muscular stance
- Sharper fog lamp housings
- Revised grille with minor tweaks
- C-shaped LED DRLs for a modern look
- New alloy wheels for a fresh style

The Thar will continue with its ladder-frame chassis and the same engine options:
- 1.5-litre diesel
- 2.0-litre turbo petrol
- 2.2-litre diesel
Interior Upgrades
The biggest changes are inside the cabin:
- New 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system
- Reworked centre console with space for a wireless charging pad
- Redesigned steering wheel
- Power window switches moved to the doors
- Additional safety and convenience features expected
When Will It Launch?
Mahindra is likely to unveil the 3-door Thar facelift in less than two weeks. This comes as the brand also tests the updated XUV700, set for an early 2026 launch.
