The Toyota Fortuner has been the king of full-size SUVs in India for years. Since the Ford Endeavour left the market, no other SUV has really challenged it. But things may change soon with Volkswagen Tayron and MG Majestor getting ready to launch. Both will bring modern features, bold styling, and aim to compete directly with the Fortuner.
Volkswagen Tayron
- The Tayron is basically a 7-seater version of the Tiguan R-Line.
- Expected launch: End of this year.
- Globally, it comes with multiple engine options, but in India, it will likely get a 2.0L turbo-petrol engine (204PS, 320Nm) with a 7-speed DCT and AWD.
- Price (Expected): ₹50–55 lakh.
- Size: About the same length as Fortuner (4.8m) but with a longer wheelbase for more cabin space.
- Design: Similar to Tiguan R-Line with LED headlights, sleek light bar, aggressive bumper, and stylish 19-inch alloy wheels.

MG Majestor
- Showcased at 2025 Bharat Mobility Expo, will be sold through MG Select dealerships.
- Expected launch: Before Diwali 2025.
- Positioning: Will be sold alongside the Gloster, but as a more premium offering.
- Engine & Performance: Will use the same 2.0L twin-turbo diesel from the Gloster (218bhp, 480Nm), paired with an 8-speed automatic. It will also get 4WD with multiple drive modes.
- Design: Big SUV look with a bold grille, vertical LED headlamps, stylish DRLs, sporty bumper, dual exhausts, and new alloy wheels.
