The ID. Polo is part of Volkswagen’s new strategy to carry forward familiar model names into its all-electric ID. family. The Polo name, which has been loved for decades, will now enter the electric era. Its concept version is known as the ID.2all.
Will Volkswagen continue its old car names?
Yes. Volkswagen has announced that all petrol and diesel cars will keep their existing names, while electric cars will carry the “ID.” badge along with the established model names.
Volkswagen Polo GTI is also going electric
Along with the ID. Polo, Volkswagen will also introduce the ID. Polo GTI, carrying the sporty GTI legacy into the EV world. The ID. GTI Concept will be revealed this year and will go into production as the ID. Polo GTI in 2026.
What about the Volkswagen ID. Cross SUV?
- Before the Polo reveal, Volkswagen will also showcase a brand-new electric compact SUV concept called the ID. Cross on 7th September 2025. The production model will arrive in late 2026 as the electric version of the popular T-Cross.
