Hyundai is gearing up to expand its hybrid SUV lineup in India over the next two to three years. The company is working on multiple new models, including the next-generation Creta, a premium three-row SUV, and the globally popular Palisade. Here’s a breakdown of what to expect:
1. Next-Generation Hyundai Creta (SX3)
- The new Creta (codenamed SX3) is expected to arrive by 2027 with a completely new design, updated platform, and fresh styling.
- It is likely to continue with the 1.5-litre petrol, 1.5-litre diesel, and 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engines.
- A hybrid version is also being prepared, which could make Creta one of the first mass-market hybrid SUVs from Hyundai in India.
- Before this, the next-gen Venue will launch by late 2025, followed by an update to the Creta EV.
2. Hyundai Ni1i Three-Row SUV
- Codenamed Ni1i, this upcoming SUV will be a larger, three-row model designed to sit between the Alcazar and Tucson.
- Reports suggest it will use a reworked 1.5-litre petrol engine with hybrid technology.
- Positioned as a premium family SUV, it is expected to launch by 2027 and will be built at Hyundai’s Talegaon facility in Maharashtra.

3. Hyundai Palisade Hybrid
- Hyundai is also planning to bring its flagship Palisade SUV to India by 2028.
- The Palisade Hybrid pairs a 2.5-litre turbo-petrol engine with an electric motor, producing 334 hp and 460 Nm of torque.
- Claimed efficiency: 14+ km/l, making it powerful yet efficient.
- If approved for India, the Palisade Hybrid will be Hyundai’s most premium SUV offering.
Hyundai’s Future Plans
Alongside these hybrids, Hyundai will continue strengthening its electric vehicle portfolio. The company already sells the Ioniq 5 and Creta EV, and has also confirmed a new locally made e-SUV for India.
