Renault is now focusing more on India. Along with updating their showrooms, they are also planning to bring new cars, including an electric version of the Kwid. This new Kwid EV is likely to launch in late 2025 or early 2026.
A fully covered test car (test mule) was seen on Indian roads. The shape looks similar to the current petrol Kwid, but the EV might have some design changes to make it look more electric-style.
The Kwid EV might be similar to the Dacia Spring EV sold in Europe. That version has:
- A 26.8kWh battery
- A 33kW front-wheel-drive motor
- 0 to 100 km/h in 19.2 seconds
- Top speed of 125 km/h
- Fast charging (20% to 80% in 45 minutes)
- Claimed range of 225 km
Inside the car, the Kwid EV might get:
- A 10-inch touchscreen
- A 7-inch digital speedometer
For safety, the car is expected to have:
- ABS
- Emergency braking
- Lane keeping assist
- Lane change warning
- Stability control
- Six airbags
- Tyre pressure monitor
- ISOFIX child seat mounts
The Kwid EV will compete with other small electric cars like the MG Comet, Tata Tiago.ev, Tata Punch.ev, and Citroen eC3.
