Maruti Suzuki is gearing up to launch a hybrid version of the Fronx compact SUV in India, possibly as early as next year. The latest spy shots show a Fronx test mule equipped with LiDAR sensors, hinting at the arrival of ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems).
What Did the Spy Shots Reveal?
The undisguised Fronx was spotted with LiDAR sensors, which are generally used for ADAS calibration. LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) technology uses laser pulses to create a 3D map of surroundings for:
- Detecting and tracking objects
- Measuring distance and speed
- Ensuring 360° situational awareness
- Adding redundancy and safety
Which ADAS Features Can We Expect?
In Southeast Asian markets, the Fronx is already sold with a full Level 2 ADAS suite that includes:
- Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)
- Lane Keep Assist (LKA)
- Lane Departure Warning & Prevention
- Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM)
- Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA)
- High Beam Assist (HBA)
So, similar features are likely to arrive in India.
