Key features in both programs include:
- Six airbags
- ABS with EBD
- ESP with Hill Hold Assist
- ISOFIX child seat mounts (Nexa)
- Reverse parking assist or sensors
- Three-point seatbelts with reminders
- Compliance with crash and pedestrian safety standards
- 3-year / 1,00,000 km warranty
These features are now offered across many models, so whether customers buy from the Nexa or Arena showroom, they get the same level of safety. Maruti has already made ESP standard in all models and added six airbags in 14 models before the law required it.
The company’s Rs. 3,800 crore Rohtak R&D centre performs over 50 crash tests per model before launch. This has helped cars like the new Dzire get India’s first 5-star Bharat NCAP rating for a sedan, and the Baleno earn 4 stars.
Maruti also runs road safety awareness programs and is the only carmaker in India to offer six airbags and ESC as standard in a wide range of cars — from small hatchbacks to SUVs.
Recent advancements include side and curtain airbags, heads-up display, 360-degree cameras, electronic parking brake with auto-hold, tyre pressure monitoring, and Level 2 ADAS in the upcoming e Vitara EV.
