SUV with over 70 connected features, 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay; starting price ₹17.39 lakh
Mahindra & Mahindra has launched a new variant of its popular SUV Scorpio-N, the Z4 automatic variant. It is a step up from the base variant Z2. This means the Scorpio N with automatic transmission is now cheaper.
Earlier, the Z4 variant was available only with a 6-speed manual gearbox. Now it has been given a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox with both petrol and diesel engine options. Apart from this, there are no changes in the car.
The Z4 petrol automatic costs ₹17.39 lakh (ex-showroom), and the Z4 diesel automatic costs ₹17.86 lakh. Before this update, the Scorpio-N was available with an automatic gearbox option in the Z6 variant in diesel (priced at ₹18.91 lakh) and the Z8 Select variant in petrol (priced at ₹19.06 lakh).
In comparison, the new Scorpio Z4 automatic model is cheaper by Rs. 1.05 lakh in petrol and Rs. 1.67 lakh in diesel. In India, it will compete with the Tata Harrier and Safari, while in this price series it also competes with the top variants of the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos.
Performance: Diesel engine with 4 wheel drive option
The Mahindra Scorpio-N comes with a 2.0-litre mStallion turbocharged petrol engine and an mHawk diesel engine. The petrol-engined SUV produces 203hp of power and 370NM of peak torque with a 6-speed manual transmission. The same engine produces 10Nm more torque when paired with a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.
At the same time, the diesel engine generates 175hp and 370NM peak torque with a manual gearbox. This engine produces 400Nm of torque and comes with a 6-speed automatic gearbox. There is also a 4 wheel drive (4WD) option with the Scorpio-N diesel engine.

The Scorpio-N comes with over 70 connected features. Its Z4 trim has features like 8-inch touchscreen, wired Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, steering-mounted controls, AC vents in the second row, halogen headlights, LED turn indicators, 17-inch wheels with plastic covers, rear spoiler, power windows and fabric upholstery.
Safety features: 6 airbags and tire pressure monitoring system
For safety, Mahindra has given many features like disc brakes on all wheels, 6 airbags, hill hold control, hill descent control, reverse camera with sensors, tire pressure monitoring system, cruise control and rear disc brakes.
