The first day of GST 2.0 benefits turned into a historic moment for India’s auto industry, especially for Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai. With Navratri celebrations starting, customer demand shot up like never before.
Maruti Suzuki’s Unprecedented Response
- On Day 1 alone, Maruti Suzuki received 80,000+ enquiries and delivered 25,000 cars.
- This is a record-breaking number that usually takes weeks to achieve.
- The company had already notched 75,000 bookings, and around 15,000 new bookings are coming in every day.
Partho Banerjee, Head of Marketing & Sales at Maruti Suzuki, said:
“We haven’t seen such a response in the last 35 years. Deliveries will soon cross 30,000 cars.”
The GST 2.0 price cuts, announced on September 18, reduced prices by up to ₹1.3 lakh, making cars more affordable. Hatchbacks saw the biggest demand surge with bookings up by 50%, while SUVs like the Brezza and Grand Vitara also remained hot sellers.
Hyundai’s Strong Sales on Navratri
Hyundai also enjoyed its best festive opening in 5 years, billing 11,000 cars in a single day.
Tarun Garg, COO of Hyundai India, said:
“We are proud to fully pass on GST benefits to our customers. The festive demand will remain strong, and we are ready to deliver maximum value.”
